Sarah Baumann - Artistic Producer
A Toronto-based theatre producer and director, Sarah is a founding member and co-artistic producer of Theatre Smash. She is directing the company’s second mainstage production, Norway.Today, and produced Tiny Dynamite, Theatre Smash’s Dora-nominated inaugural production. Sarah is also the Marketing Communications Manager for the Luminato Festival.
As former Artistic Associate for Beyond Chutleigh Productions, Sarah directed Cabaret, Pick Up Bras and Long Term Shorts, and the short film F (which premiered at the Montreal International Film Festival). Most recently, Sarah directed Alison Broverman’s Expiry Dating, winner of the Best New Play Competition and Patron’s Pick for the 2007 Toronto Fringe Festival. Other directing credits include: The Mystery at Melody Mansion, (2005 Fringe, Five Stars in EYE Magazine), Now I Know (Driftwood Theatre Company), This is a Play (Queen’s Drama) and Beyond Therapy (LCS). Sarah has assisted at Tarragon Theatre (Helen’s Necklace, assisting Eda Holmes), CanStage (Side by Side by Sondheim, assisting Eda Holmes) and Theatre by the Bay (As You Like It, assisting Daryl Cloran), for which she received a Theatre Ontario Professional Training Grant.
Besides her work as Producer for Tiny Dynamite, Sarah also co-produced This Would be the Year to Spend Christmas in Mexico at the Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace for Sadling’s Theatre, and the QMT hit production of The Music Man at The Grand Theatre in Kingston, ON.
Sarah is a graduate of Queen’s University (Stage and Screen Studies), The Banff Centre (Theatre Craft), and the Income Managers program (University of Waterloo/Cultural Careers Council of Ontario).
